Grades 4-8FLL® gives elementary & middle school students the opportunity to research a real-world problem, then create an original solution for it.

FIRST Tech Challenge Alabama

Grades 7-12FTC® middle & high school teams are challenged to design and build a robot using a kit of parts and common set of rules to play a game.

FIRST Robotics Competition Alabama

Grades 9-12FRC® challenges high school students to design & build a robot in 6 weeks using a standard kit of parts to compete in a regional competition.

FIRST® Robotics Competition
Rocket City Regional, March 22-25, 2017

Hosted at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, this competition pits teams and their robots against each other in a fun and competitive robotic game. The game changes every year, adding new levels of complexity and elements of surprise that challenge students. Once the game is revealed, each team will have six weeks to design, build and test their robot’s abilities to meet the demands of the new robotic challenge.
Be part of the more than 3,400 teams comprised of 85,000 students and Mentors from around the world who will prepare to take flight in FIRST® STEAMWORKSSM.

FIRST® dedicated volunteers demonstrate a passion for FIRST® programs. Volunteers contribute their time, skills and expertise by serving on various committees, mentoring, judging, and on-site the day of any participating FIRST® event. Learn More

Become a Mentor

The Alumni program aims to inspire young adults who previously participated in any of the four FIRST® programs. Over 400,000 students have participated in FIRST® and 89.6% of alumni have chosen profession in a STEM related field. Learn More
